Davidson Scholarship Fund

Martha Davidson was a founding member of VdGS-NE and attended board meetings from the 1980’s until her death in 2021. She played many significant roles on the board and was also a member of the board of the VdGSA. In 2017, the VdGS-NE board and other supporters organized a gathering in Martha’s honor. We enjoyed a potluck lunch together, viol playing, tributes to Martha, and announcement of the Martha Davidson Scholarship Fund.  In the spring of 2022, Martha’s daughter Hannah who was also pillar of our community passed away suddenly from cancer. We have since renamed the fund the Davidson Scholarship Fund in both of their memories. 

This fund supports:

• Workshop attendance: We give students in a degree program full scholarships to our workshops through this fund. Anyone else who needs financial assistance can request it when they register.
• Viol Rental: We cover the full price of a three month viol rental from the Powers Music School in Belmont, MA. Any New England-based player in need of financial assistance for viol rental may apply. Longer term rental arrangements can be made on a case by case basis.
