Davidson Scholarship Fund

Martha Davidson was a founding member of VdGS-NE and attended board meetings from the 1980’s until her death in 2021. She played many significant roles on the board and was also a member of the board of the VdGSA. In 2017, the VdGS-NE board and other supporters organized a gathering in Martha’s honor. We enjoyed a potluck lunch together, viol playing, tributes to Martha, and announcement of the Martha Davidson Scholarship Fund.  In the spring of 2022, Martha’s daughter Hannah who was also pillar of our community passed away suddenly from cancer. We have since renamed the fund the Davidson Scholarship Fund in both of their memories. 

This fund supports:

  • Workshop attendance: Anyone in need of financial assistance to attend a VdGS-NE workshop may apply.
  • Three-month Introductory Viol Rental: All new players of any age may apply for $100 grant toward a three-month Introductory Rental for a treble, tenor, or bass viol from the Powers Music School in Belmont, MA.
  • Long term Viol Rental: Any New England-based player in need of financial assistance for longer term viol rental may apply.
