VdGS-NE April Online Workshop: Tablature with John Mark Rozendaal
On Saturday April 17, 2021 from 3:00-4:30, the VdGS-NE presents its next special topics workshop entitled: “Beginner tablature for the Viol.” The guest presenter is John Mark Rozendaal
Lyra-viol music written in tablature offers the solo viol player an extensive repertoire of challenging, entertaining music by some of the best composers of the 17th century. But accessing this repertoire can be a cognitive challenge! This class is a practice session to get the “tab chops” moving; including basic technical exercises, easy ensemble music played from tab, and two solo simple solo pieces from the “Manchester” tablature.
Parts will be provided for bass, tenor, and treble instruments. Pitch: A=415
