Powers Music School in Belmont MA, fifty years old last year, continues to be a valuable resource for viol players around New England. The School maintains a collection of rental viols - 7 basses, 6 tenors and 4 trebles. Instruments may be available to non- Powers students, if they are not required for the School's viol program. On June 13, 2015 Powers again partnered with the Viola da Gamba Society of America and its New England chapter, the Viola da Gamba Society - New England by providing ten instruments for the Gamba Garden, a three hour “petting zoo” staffed by local viol players at the Boston Early Music Festival. Powers commitment to supporting the early music community is part of the legacy of the late Ellen Powers, viol player and first Director of the School, and the many generous donors of viols, bows, and cases over the years.

Powers has viols available in all sizes for rental. Rates are as follows:
