Viols at Powers
Powers Music School in Belmont, MA continues to be a valuable resource for viol players around New England. In June, the School generously provided eight viols for use at the Boston Early Music Festival "Gamba Garden" on June 15. 2013. Every instrument was in use all day, as VdGS-NE volunteers entertained a continuous stream of interested musicians of all ages, showing them how to hold and play the viol. Powers’ commitment to supplying well-maintained rental viols to the community is part of the legacy of Ellen Powers, the first Director of the School.
Powers has viols available in all sizes for fall rental. Rates are as follows:
> $350 for a year, Sept. to Sept.
> $175 for half-year, Sept.-Jan. and Jan.-May
> $90 for 3 months, special short-term rate, non-renewable
Instruments may be rented at other times of year, as available.
To enquire about renting a viol, contact Registrar Evan Louden at 617-484-4696 or by email at email@example.com.
