2021 Silbiger Concert Updates

The Viola da Gamba Society-New England has awarded the 2020-2021 Gian Lyman Silbiger Grant to Mary Jodice and Carol Lewis for a concert entitled “Cries and Ballads of London” to be held at St. Andrew’s Church in Marblehead, MA. at 7:00pm on June 20, 2021.

The program under the direction of Mary Jodice will feature the eight voice chamber choir ‘Jubilate’ and the ‘El Dorado Viol Consort’ made up of Carol Lewis, Karen Burciaga, Hannah Davidson, Mai Lan Broekman, and Alice Mroszczyk. The program will centre on Orlando Gibbons’ “Cries of London” accompanied by viol consort music and sprightly vocal music about the springtime sung by Jubilate.

St Andrews Church in Marblehead, Mass is excited to host the Silbiger Grant concert on June 20 at 7pm. St Andrews is the place on the North shore of Boston for great music! We regularly have Evensong, Early Music, Popular Music and Classical Music concerts throughout the year, indoors and outside. The chapel at St Andrews is an intimate space with fine acoustics for Early Music and small groups. The church, built 100 years ago, features beautiful windows. Closer to the date of the concert, St Andrews will be taking reservations for this concert on their website. Tickets are $20 per reservation. Please note that space is very limited for in person attendance. In addition, the event will also be streamed on Facebook Live (via “Church of Saint Andrew”) and will be recorded by Salem public access TV for future broadcast.

St. Andrew’s Church is at 135 Lafayette St.,  Marblehead, MA 01945. For further information email Mary Jodice
